Diplomato in tromba con il massimo dei voti presso il Conservatorio A. Corelli di Messina, intraprende successivamente gli studi di direzione d'orchestra presso l'Accademia Musicale Pescarese dove frequenta il Corso Triennale di Alto Perfezionamento di Direzione d'Orchestra tenuto dal Mº Donato Renzetti conseguendo il diploma con il massimo dei voti. In seguito approfondisce la direzione con J. Kalmar e Hans Graf ai Master Course di Vienna.Dirige la Jasi Philarmonic Orchestra, l'Orchestra Sinfonica Abbruzzese "Mario Gusella", la Szeged Philarmonic Orchestra, l'Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (con quest'ultima dirige nel maggio del 1999 il Concerto per la Pace promosso per il Kossovo.) Si esibisce anche in Giappone, Cina e America. Al Festival di Todi lavora come assistente musicale per la realizzzione dell' opera Hansel e Gretel di E. Humperdinck ed alla produzione della fiaba Pierino e il Lupo di Prokof'ev con l'attore Paolo Villaggio; sempre per il Festival di Todi collabora per la prima rappresentazione assoluta della fiaba per bambini "il Cavallo sull'Isola" di Lucio Gregoretti (voce recitante Giobbe Covatta) ed alla realizzazione di "Storia di Babar L' elefantino" di Poulenc (voce recitante Milena Vukutic).

Salvatore Magazzù received his Bacherlor's Degree in Trumpet at the "A. Corelli" Conservatory of Music of Messina, Italy, graduating with top marks. He then studied Orchestral Conducting at the Pescara Musical Academy, attending the Three-Year Master Course of Orchestral Conducting held by Maestro Donato Renzetti, graduating with the highest marks possible. His studies then continued with J. Kalmar and Hans Graf at their Master Classes in Vienna, Austria. He has conducted the Jasi Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica Abbruzzese "Mario Gusella", the Szeged Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (which he conducted in May 1999 for the Peace Concert in favor of the Kossovo). He has also performed in Japan, China, and in the United States. At the Todi Festival he worked as musical assistant for the production of Hansel and Gretel by E. Humperdinck, and for the production of Peter and the Wolf by S. Prokofiev which featured the actor Paolo Villaggio; for the Todi Festival he also helped realize the world premiere of the child's fable "The Horse on the Island" by Lucio Gregoretti (recited by Giobbe Covatta) and the production of "The Story of Babar the Little Elephant" by F. Poulenc (recited by Milena Vukutic).

Il Maestro Salvatore Magazzù si è diplomato con il massimo dei voti al Corso triennale di Alto Perfezionamento in Direzione d’Orchestra, da me tenuto all’Accademia Musicale Pescarese. Il Maestro Magazzù è stato sicuramente uno dei migliori allievi, nei dieci anni del mio insegnamento. Dotato di un’elevata natura direttoriale, ha una tecnica precisa e incisiva, e una musicalità certamente non comune, la sua direzione, pur nel rispetto delle volontà dei Compositori eseguiti, ha sempre riscontrato, grazie anche ad una concertazioneanalitica e puntigliosa, favorevoli consensi di pubblico e di critica, e quel che più conta, delle Orchestre da Lui dirette. Per queste caratteristiche, senza ombra di dubbio, credo che il Maestro Magazzù sia uno dei giovani e promettenti Direttori d’Orchestra, di grande talento.
Maestro Salvatore Magazzù graduated with highest marks from the Three-Year Master Course of Orchestral Conducting, which I held at the Pescara Musical Academy. Maestro Magazzù is without doubt one of the best students I have had in ten years of teaching. Gifted with innate conducting talent, he has a precise and incisive technique, and an uncommon musicality; his conducting, while always respecting the will of the Composers, thanks to careful and analytical preparation, has always encountered the favor of both critics and the general public - and what counts even more - the Orchestras which he has conducted. For these characteristics, I believe most certainly that Maestro Magazzù is a very talented, young and promising conductor.
